Improving your search results and excluding the junk.

In addition to filtering your search results by size, BinTube Usenet Search supports some extra functionality to filter out even more junk:

• Phrase search ("")

Putting double quotes around 2 or more words, tells BinTube to look for the words in that exact order without any change. For example, a search for [ "Ubuntu 8.10" ] (with quotes) will not return results that refer to Ubuntu 8.04 - 10 GB.

• Terms you want to exclude (-)

Adding a minus sign immediately before a word tells BinTube not to return results containing this word. The minus sign should be placed immediately before the word and should be preceded with a space. For example, in the query [ anti-virus software ], the minus sign is used as a hyphen and will not be interpreted as an exclusion symbol; whereas the query [ anti-virus -software ] will search for the words 'anti-virus' but exclude references to software. You can exclude as many words as you want by using the - sign in front of all of them, for example [ wallpapers -zip -rar ].

• Wildcard search (*)

If you end a word with a *, BinTube will match words starting with your term and ending with any sequence of characters. For example, the search [ test* ] will match tests, testimony, testament etc...

• The OR operator

BinTube by default matches all the terms you enter in a search. If you want to specifically allow either one of several words, you can use the OR operator (note that you have to type 'OR' in ALL CAPS). For example, [ cars OR trains ] will give you results about cars or trains
